imkRELIABLE RESULTS.
Your partner for sustainable medical technology development: We work closely with you, provide guidance and offer fresh ideas.
What is holding your medtech project back?
imk Health has the solution.
Every new service provider increases the coordination workload and the risk of errors.
Development, planning and small-batch production are all carried out by a single company.
MDR and ISO requirements seem abstract and difficult to grasp.
imk Health incorporates MDR and ISO 13485 at an early stage in the practical development of projects.
Without a sparring partner, blind spots in the project remain undetected.
imk Health works alongside you as a partner, rather than simply processing orders.
Complexity and risk result in hidden costs and delays.
imk Health assumes technical, regulatory and supplier-related risks
Purely order-based development often fails to take manufacturing and maintainability into account at all
We take care of the specifications, regulatory requirements, suppliers and design for manufacturing.

BiSOP — Hand exoskeleton for the operating theatre
Details
Overall project: Development of a hand exoskeleton for use in the operating theatre.
Surgeons are subjected to considerable physical strain in the operating theatre: repetitive postures, high grip forces, and procedures lasting several hours. The BiSOP project is developing an active forearm exoskeleton that specifically offsets this strain without compromising the precision of hand movements.
Using haptic sensors, the system detects the application of force and intended movement in real time and provides precisely measured assistance exactly where it is needed.
- Development of drive kinematics and joint guidance
- Integration of haptic sensors for force control
- Prototype development and iterative usability testing in a clinical setting
- Technology transfer to other exoskeleton applications

MultiDiag — Early detection of Alzheimer’s from blood plasma
Details
Alzheimer’s is often not diagnosed until symptoms are already noticeable. MultiDiag aims to use blood biomarkers to detect the disease years before clinical onset.
At its heart is a fully automated benchtop platform which, for the first time, combines three types of assay (DNA PCR, RNA PCR and protein immunoassay) without the need to change equipment. Samples in, results out.
- Development of the mechanical automation platform
- Integration of immunoprecipitation and real-time PCR into a single workflow
- Fully automated sample-to-result processing with no manual steps
- Parallel analysis: Alzheimer’s biomarkers and hepatitis multi-markers
- System validation and preparation for regulatory approval

SealCompact — Automated heat sealer
Details
Manual plate sealing is a common bottleneck in automated laboratory processes: it is error-prone, time-consuming and difficult to scale. SealCompact solves this problem with a fully automated module that integrates seamlessly into existing laboratory infrastructures.
Thanks to the SiLA protocol, automatic material and adapter recognition, and an ultra-compact footprint, SealCompact can be integrated into existing workstations without the need for structural modifications.
- Fully automatic loading, sealing and unloading
- Automatic seal and adapter detection
- Compatible with PCR plates and deep-well plates
- 250 seals per cartridge for low-maintenance continuous operation
- Integration via Ethernet, RS232 and SiLA 2.0

We have already been able to serve these customers make someone happy
Head of Instrumentation, Biotype GmbH
"imk is our partner for device developments, reacting very quickly to new situations and proactively putting together strong teams that work on developments almost like a department in our own company. With excellent expertise in managing supplier networks, imk is also able to act very strongly in areas where it has no expertise itself, making big things happen as a small partner."
Managing Director, ROTOP Pharmaka GmbH
"The implementation concept developed by imk for a semi-automated solution for the quality assurance of pharmaceutical medical devices has far exceeded our expectations. The imk presents itself as structured, creative and very well networked. In this way, the sympathetic team was able to give us valuable impulses for technological developments and, in addition to the concept, provide important insights and key figures regarding feasibility, risk assessment and cost calculation. Fully convinced by their competence, we are happy to remain imk's partner."
Director of R&D, IMS Gear
„The next|gear method developed by imk has significantly extended the service life of the gearboxes. It also ensures that the gearboxes run particularly smoothly and quietly. We enjoy working with such a reliable partner as imk, as their competence and expertise in this field never fail to impress us.“

Your questions: our answers
We answer the questions our customers ask most frequently before their first consultation.
For which projects is imk Health the right partner?
We specialise in Medical technology, in vitro diagnostics, medical assistance systems and gear technology, from the initial concept to a certified small-batch production run.
Particularly when projects are complex, involve multiple disciplines or are subject to stringent regulatory requirements, you will benefit from our interdisciplinary team with over 25 years’ market experience.
What is the typical workflow for a project at imk Health?
Following a free initial consultation, we will draw up a bespoke project plan. We will guide you through every stage: Concept development, system design, prototyping, production planning and small-batch manufacturing. We also provide support with the registration process.
You’ll be assigned a dedicated point of contact and given clear milestones, so you’ll always know where your project stands.
How does imk Health ensure regulatory compliance?
We are certified to ISO 9001 and EN ISO 13485. Regulatory requirements under the MDR, the IVD Regulation and other standards are integrated into the development process from the outset, rather than being added at a later stage.
This significantly minimises your regulatory risk and saves you from having to make costly corrections in later stages of the project.
Can imk Health also take on individual project phases?
Yes. We can offer you a full-service development and manufacturing partner provide support or take on specific tasks, such as prototyping, production planning, calculations or small-batch production.
During the initial consultation, we will work with you to determine which model is best suited to your situation and the resources you have available.
How soon can we expect the project to get underway?
Following the initial consultation, you will usually receive an initial concept and timeframe within a few working days. How quickly a project actually gets underway depends on its scope and complexity.
Our short internal approval processes and direct access to development, manufacturing and quality assurance, all under one roof, ensures that you can produce a prototype much more quickly than you would with several separate service providers.
How much does it cost to work with imk Health?
As every project is unique, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. During the free initial consultation, we analyse your requirements and draw up a a transparent, performance-based offer.
You’ll benefit from not having to coordinate several individual providers, which means fewer costs arising from errors, time lost and interface problems arise.
